Female Impotence

by: Kent Pinkerton

Female impotence, or female sexual dysfunction, is a catchall term used to describe difficulties in having sexual desire, enjoying sex, being adequately aroused or having an orgasm. A woman may experience decreased sexual desire for a number of reasons including stress and exhaustion. She may be unable to enjoy sex because she has one of several sex pain disorders, which in turn may be caused by an underlying condition. Women with breast cancer or gynecologic disorders may experience sexual dysfunction.

One type of female impotence is analogous to male impotence and may be caused by decreased blood flow to the clitoris during sexual intercourse. Psychosocial factors such as previous or ongoing sexual or physical abuse or an unresolved conflict over sexual identity may also play a role in female sexual dysfunction.

To provide appropriate treatment to a woman suffering from sexual dysfunction, her physician first has to overcome the challenge of separating intrinsic from extrinsic reasons for such dysfunction. Besides pain during sex or the presence of a clear underlying disorder, it may be difficult to distinguish between a womans inability to become aroused and have an orgasm from the technique used by her partner to stimulate her. Many women may only be able to have an orgasm through clitoral stimulation but gender roles and other barriers may get in the way of a woman expressing her needs to her sex partner. Mental stimulation plays a major part, if a woman is dissatisfied with her sex partner for other reasons, this may translate into decreased libido with that partner. This is called situational sexual dysfunction and the woman may experience no problems with a partner she considers more appealing.

Where an underlying reason can be identified, female sexual dysfunction is treatable. In many cases, a doctor may recommend counseling for a woman and possibly her partner.

Orgasm Benefits

by: Amy Otis, BSN, RN

An Orgasm is Good For You!
According to JAMA (the Journal of the American Medical Association), 43% of American women suffer from some form of 'Female Sexual Dysfunction -- often placing the blame on themselves for their inability to reach orgasm. Stop blaming yourself. If you are alone, masturbation will help you find what feels right for you. If you have a partner, talk to them. Often the clitoris is under stimulated during sexual intercourse - which is how many women have an orgasm. If you have orgasms from your cervix being stimulated, tell your partner this. (Or, whatever else does it for you).
Orgasms: Relieve tension! The faster heart beat, the increased blood flow and muscular tautness associated with sexual pleasure all come to a relaxing conclusion with an orgasm, and in the process relieve tensions pent up in your nervous system.
Orgasms: Help you sleep better. While an orgasm is followed in the male by a quick drop in blood pressure and sudden relaxation, the effect on women is more progressive but no less important. Orgasms act as a natural tranquilizer. That wonderful release of endorphins is very calming.
Orgasms: Calm your cravings for junk food and sometimes for cigarettes. Sexual stimulation activates the production of phenetylamine, a kind of natural amphetamine that regulates your appetite. So, before you pig-out, maybe go to your room. :)
Orgasms: Burn calories.
Orgasms: Can work as natural pain management. If you ever noticed forgetting about a headache or menstrual cramps while masturbating or having sex, it is not simply a psychological phenomenon. Endorphins, (natural compounds close to morphine) are released by your body during sex and can increase your tolerance to pain by as much as 70% during orgasm. This will vary from person to person. AND, if you are in the hospital... forget trying this due to the lack of privacy.

Kissing is Good For You!

by: Amy, RN

Reasons Why Kissing is Good for You!
It helps prevent tooth decay (better than brushing your teeth?) Dr. Peter Gorden, Dental Advisor at the British Dental Association, explains. “After eating, your mouth is full of sugar solution and acidic saliva, which cause plaque build up. Kissing is nature's own cleaning process”, he adds. “It stimulates saliva flow and brings plaque levels down to normal.” I asked my dentist and after he blushed, he agreed.

It relieves tension. A passionate kiss is a great relaxation technique, says stress consultant, Michelle Kay Mcnabb. " When your mouth is in a kissing position, you are almost smiling and as our emotions and body language are so closely linked, it's almost impossible to smile and feel tense at the same time," she explains. "Also, your breathing becomes deeper and your eyes close when you kiss; that's what you do when you relax. It's a perfect way to shut out the world."

It helps you lose weight.-- just how long can you do that? You need use 3000 calories to lose one pound, i.e., 30,000 minutes, 500 hours... "A long kiss makes the metabolism burn up sugar faster than usual," says Claire Potter. "The calories burned depend on the intensity, but you can rely on 10 calories for every 10 minutes."

It slows the aging process. (That's important! ) "Kissing helps to tone your cheek and jaw muscles, so they're less likely to sag," says Cosmo's Fitness Consultant, Claire Potter.

It increases fitness levels. (Okay, now there is really no reason why you can't start some exercise now). “Your heart is pumping, your pulse is racing..."If kissing is exciting, you release adrenaline into the bloodstream and your heart pumps more blood around your body,” says Dr. Susan Hotchkies. "It's a great cardiovascular workout."

It’s a good indication of what's to come. (Make sure he or she is not married, please). Kissing a new guy or gal gives you the perfect opportunity to check out his or her pheromones - the chemical messengers that signal sexual attraction. " The first kiss is always a good way to work out if there's any chemistry between you, "says Paul Brown, a sexual and marital therapist. " In humans, it's thought that smells plays a vital part in subconscious attraction, and if your pheromones aren't 'in tune', you're unlikely to hit off!

It boosts self-esteem. There's nothing better than a passionate kiss for a major dose of feel good factor. "In theory, when you're kissing, you're happy. And when you're happy, you feel good about yourself," says psychotherapist Paul Zeal.

Don't leave kissing out of romance. Kiss someone special today and see if your love life improves.

Pregnancy and Sex Hormones - How They Effect Your Body

By Stephan Karian

From the evolutionary point of view, women are vital for the perpetuation of the human race. Therefore, their health must be excellent at a time when they are ready to engage in reproductive activities and while they are pregnant. This is accomplished by the action of the ovaries and the adrenal glands that provide a steady, continuous supply of high levels of estrogen and progesterone.

High as the hormone levels are in young women, they are dwarfed by the levels of the same hormones during pregnancy. For example, the level of estradiol (the most potent estrogen) in a young woman ranges from 50 to 250 units. (For the benefit of scientifically-minded readers, the units are pg/ml picograms per milliliter, abbreviated as pg/ml).

Estradiol levels during the first trimester (first three months) can go as high as 3,000, reaching over 15,000 during the first trimester, and doubling that to 30,000 - 33,000 during the final trimester of pregnancy. That's over 100 times higher than the already high levels of a young woman.

Progesterone levels follow the same pattern. Normal level in a young woman is about one unit in the first half of menstrual cycle and four to fifteen in the second half (The units are nanograms per milliliter, ng/ml).

During the first trimester of pregnancy, progesterone level goes up to 90 and by the third trimester it can reach well over 400. As you see, these levels are very high compared to those of non-pregnant women. Keep in mind that pregnant women are exposed to these astronomical levels for about nine months. If hormones were dangerous, or if they could cause a disease, each pregnant woman would be a prime candidate.

As you see, these levels are very high compared to those of non-pregnant women. Keep in mind that pregnant women are exposed to these astronomical levels for about nine months. If hormones were dangerous, or if they could cause a disease, each pregnant woman would be a prime candidate. But we all know that pregnancy does not cause women to become sick. Just the opposite, most women feel absolutely fabulous. Except for the first few weeks when nausea and decreased appetite may be present, pregnant women simply glow with health. They thrive and feel great. Their bones are strong, their skin is supple and free of wrinkles, and they rarely ever get cancer or have heart attacks.

This should make it clear to you that natural hormones (those produced by the body itself) do not cause problems. Instead, they support health and protect us from disease. In fact, most diseases appear when hormone levels start dropping and become too low, which is what happens when we start getting older.

As a result of a seeing how his mother's life was saved by alternative therapies, Stephan Karian founded Great American Products. He did not set out to just create another vitamin company. He had a greater personal goal to enhance the quality of life for millions of people. Armed with the most up-to-date science as a research beacon, Stephan Karian has produced some of the most effective nutritional supplements available anywhere.

How to Relieve Painful Menstrual Cramps

by: Veronica

If you're one of the millions of women who experience painful menstrual cramps every month, then you're probably looking for some sort of pain relief. For some women, the monthly flow is not just a time of annoyance or a passing inconvenience, but is a time of severe pain that they dread from month to month.

Here are a few tips that can help you deal with painful menstrual cramps:

1.    Drink lots of water and maintain a healthy diet. Pay attention to what you eat and see if there are specific foods that increase cramp severity or reduce the pain. While certain tips, like avoiding chocolate during your period, are mostly myths, these bits of folk advice ring true for many women with cramps.

2.    Use a hot water bottle or heating pad on your lower abdomen. Menstrual cramps are caused by the contracting of your uterus, so what you really need is relax the uterus. Since cramps are similar to muscle pain in this way, applying heat, like with sore muscles, will help relax the uterus and ease up the menstrual cramps.

3.    Lay on your stomach. Applying pressure to your uterus may relieve some of the pain and laying on your belly is the best way to do that.

4.    Take a painkiller. Certain painkillers, like Celebrex for example, are specially designed to relieve muscle pain and inflammation, including menstrual cramps. Millions of women find relief in Celebrex, especially when nothing else seems to work for them. You can buy generic Celebrex online as an affordable and efficient option.

5.    Exercise. Exercise is often considered a cure-all for many conditions, including painful menstrual cramps. Moving around and being active will not only take your mind off of cramps, but will also serve as pain relief by sending healing endorphins to the brain and by stretching the uterus during movements.

If none of these solutions work for you, consider making an appointment to see your doctor. You could have a more serious medical condition that needs further attention.

Women Issue-Irregular Menstruation Can Cause Infertility

by: Siamon Richer

It is predictable that concerning 1/3 of infertility cases can be attributed to females.
30 to 40 percent of these cases are caused by unbalanced or uncommon ovulation and menstruation.
The excellent news? Nearly all infertility subjects caused by irregular menstruation are treatable.

Don't run directly to the Clomid, though. Earlier than mechanically treating ovulation problems with fertility drugs, have a medical doctor rule out any other medical situation which might be causing irregular menstruation. Diabetes, liver diseases, and hormonal imbalance ensuing from abnormalities in the thyroid can all cause irregular menstruation.

Down with sperm deficiencies, ovulation abnormalities (particularly, irregular menstruation) account for 2/3 of infertility problems. A situation called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the more common underlying causes of ovulation problems and/or infertility. It affects approximately 5 to 10 percent of women in their reproductive years. Symptoms of PCOS include:

  • Irregular menstruation, unusual menstruation, or no menstruation
  • Being overweight or obese, from time to time even when dieting and exercising
  • Insulin resistance, which could guide to the development of Type II Diabetes
  • Hair development on the chest and/or face, due to increased testosterone levels
  • High blood pressure
  • Acne
  • High triglyceride levels
  • Thinning hair

In the history, due to the sheer variety of PCOS symptoms and a extensive range in the severity of these symptoms, PCOS was seldom diagnosed. However, recent medical studies have raised consciousness of the situation and several courses of treatment are obtainable.

If you have been analyzed with PCOS and are trying to become pregnant, your medical doctor may recommend you a medicine which will induce ovulation. Overweight PCOS sufferers get better their chances of becoming pregnant by losing heaviness. If elevated insulin levels are to blame for your PCOS, you may be approved medicine which will lower your insulin levels. This will make you ovulate frequently and, in turn, regulate your menstrual cycle and increase your probability of becoming pregnant.

Unluckily, there is not forever a clear explanation for irregular menstrual cycles or infertility. Just about 10 percent of infertility cases go unexplained, although these couples often afterward succeed in becoming pregnant. External issues such as stress frequently have an effect on ovulation, menstruation, and fertility. Participating in stress-reducing activities such as meditation or yoga, cutting back on caffeine, or regular exercise can help prevent irregular menstruation. Most importantly, activities like these promote overall health,  a must for a comfortable, winning pregnancy!
