Childhood obesity is an epidemic that is hitting America hard. With all of the unhealthy food available to our children it can be hard to teach them that a healthy eating plan is important. Many parents worry that it is too late in their child's life to teach them how to eat healthy. 1. Being a good example

2. Make their meals yourself
You may think that you make most of the decisions as to what your child is eating, but you may be surprised if you saw what they ate when you are not around. School is the place where most children make bad eating decisions. When put in a position to choose a baked potato and vegetables for school lunch or french fries and a hamburger, most kids will go for the hamburger. Instead of sending them off to school with lunch money to buy a lunch there, you should make their lunch yourself. This way you can control what they will be eating.

3. Skip the Drive-Thru
A lot of bad decisions are made at fast food restaurants. Between shakes and french fries it can be hard to find a quick meal or snack for your children that is healthy. Instead of hitting the drive-thru on the way home from school, try making them a wholesome snack when they get home. Preparing a snack earlier in the day for when they get home from school is a great way to ensure that you wont give in to their pleading to stop at McDonald's. The same goes for meals. Make a healthy meal plan for the rest of the week to abide by so your not tempted to take them out to eat instead.

Abiding by these tips is a great way to keep your children healthy. Add in a little exercise everyday such as a trip to the park or walking the dog and you will have no problem keeping your children healthy and happy.
